Bobby Deol’s much-hyped Telugu debut Daaku Maharaaj was expected to establish him as a pan-Indian villain, but the result has been anything but impressive.
His performance in the film as Balwant Singh Thakur, which already received mixed reviews in theatres, is now facing even brutal criticism on Netflix after Daaku Maharaaj’s OTT debut. While some hoped he would bring intensity to the role, his expressionless performance has left audiences frustrated.
His portrayal of the antagonist is one-dimensional and lacks any real menace. There’s no emotional depth, no standout moments—just a blank stare throughout. Many are questioning what filmmakers even see in him.
A common reaction among viewers is that his character has no impact, making him more of a screen-filler than a formidable villain. Even in Animal, Bobby got away with doing almost nothing, riding on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s hype.
The same villain act in Kanguva was thrashed recently, and now Daaku Maharaaj continues the streak of forgettable performances.
The biggest letdown is the lack of freshness in both the character and his acting. Director Bobby Kolli could have shaped a more menacing role, but instead, we get a routine, predictable villain.
Bobby Deol might be visible on screen, but his presence adds no real value in Daaku Maharaaj on OTT.
