Devara OTT: Is It Kalki Or Salaar?

NTR’s Devara is nearly done with its theatrical run, now that the lucrative Dasara season is done and dusted. Notably, the film is likely to arrive on OTT in November, which is still a fair way away from now.

Coming to the actual viewership prospects, the OTT graph of Devara is going to make for an interesting viewing.

To put that into perspective, the two recent outings from Prabhas – Salaar and Kalki had completely contrasting run on OTT. While Salaar had endless repeat value and fared well on OTT, Kalki went south due to the lack of recall value.

Now, in the context of Devara’s OTT release, it has to be seen if the film will end up as a Kalki or as a Salaar.

Much like Salaar, NTR’s massy Devara also has commercial episodes packed here and there. The first half has a handful of such episodes. However, the second half seriously lacks in terms of commercial appeal.

Anirudh’s work is going to be playing a very big role here. The musical experience of Devara is of top quality. This could add value to the OTT prospect of the film as the BGM adds to the recall value of certain scenes.

In the end, will Devara end up like a Kalki, which had little prospects and recall value on OTT, or will it become another Salaar, thanks to the action part in the first half? We will know the answer possibly in a month from now after the film debuts on Netflix.
