Tamil movie DNA, starring Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles and directed by Nelson Venkatesan, was released in theatres on June 20th and has received positive responses from audiences.
Despite the positive reviews, DNA completed its theatrical run with an average status in terms of box office collection. Now, according to reports, DNA is set to stream on the Netflix OTT Platform from July 19th in five languages.
At the same time, the DNA movie is releasing in Telugu states on July 18th as My Baby in over 350 theatres.
Following this, many Trade experts raised concerns that releasing DNA on OTT on July 19th is a huge blunder. Then what’s the point in releasing the movie in a Telugu version in theatres one day before its OTT Release?.
They also suggest that if the movie is going to be streamed on July 19th on OTT, then why would people go to theatres to watch it? The DNA team should have delayed the OTT release by a minimum of two weeks to gain some box office collections in the Telugu states.
However, DNA is indeed going to be streamed on Netflix from July 19th. It remains to be seen whether Tamil audiences will celebrate the DNA movie on OTT and, at the same time, how the Telugu audience receives it – whether they will watch it on OTT or go to theatres upon its release.
