Netflix India is all set to make an ‘original’ with Sunny Deol now but netizens are asking how original the story is!
Reportedly, the project will be a Hindi adaptation of a 2007 Hollywood film. ‘Death Sentence’ is a vigilante thriller starring actors like Kevin Bacon and John Goodman. Siddharth Malhotra will be joining Sunny Deol for the show/film.
People do not seem to be very happy or confident about this. At first tagging it as a Netflix original itself is very disconcerting to some people because it is a remake.
Remakes are not working out very well nowadays and Netflix originals too are failing to satisfy audiences. This looks like a bad idea if we consider all these points.
Also, fans say that Sunny Deol is a commercial star with huge mass appeal and Netflix is trying to leverage his revived stardom to make a hit project but it is not much rewarding for Sunny Deol.
Mass audiences would not love to watch Sunny Deol on mobile screens. And now that Netflix is failing with so-called ‘OTT stars’ in the originals, the platform is trying to cash in on Deol’s brand value.
After all, it looks like fans are not very satisfied with this project and adapting a Hollywood classic might prove to be a big mistake as well.
