“Those About to Die”, a nonfiction classic written by Daniel P. Mannix is being adapted to the OTT. The series has Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins in the role of Roman Emperor Vaspasian. It is being backed by Independence Day filmmaker Ronald Emmerich.
It has the backdrop of Rome, and the makers have left breadcrumbs, to follow and understand the inner workings of dirty politics going within. Peacock has announced that the series is 10 episodes long and the entirety will be released on July 18, 2024, just a few days before the Olympics.
And the teaser just dropped depicting a blood sport-driven spectacle that was entirely narrated by Anthony Hopkins. The glimpses that we got cover sex, violence, and politics, almost a mirage-like experience. We get to see the sparring of warriors as well as horses and chariots flashing by.
The Indian audience will get to witness this epic saga on Jio Cinema. The climax shows the clash of warriors diving into this blood sport and a sudden rise of political intrigue with a subdued and layered approach.
