In today’s rapidly changing times, the OTT world has become a key part of our daily lives and in this OTT world, there is one king which dominates over the rest by a significant margin, namely, Netflix. Netflix has a habit of releasing weekly charts of its top performing projects, and this week’s one has been rather interesting.
While titles like Anweshippin Kandethum and Merry Christmas secured the top spots in Netflix’s top 10 movies in the India region, it comes as a surprise Mahesh Baby’s film Guntur Kaaram has spent its fifth consecutive week in the list.
What makes this an even bigger shocker is that the film had collected a mere 46 crore in the Indian Box Office, which isn’t exactly bad, but surely not significant in today’s times as well, especially given the stellar casting it boasted of.
Interestingly, India isn’t the only region which has been witnessing an incredible response to the film as the movie continued its five week run in the Bangladesh and Pakistan weekly charts as well.
It is also a trend in Pakistan for Indian movies to dominate its lists and such is seen by all 5 of its top five movies being Indian with 12th fail sitting right at top, closely followed by Damsel and then King Khan’s Dunki.
The plot of the movie follows Mahesh Babu in the character of Veera Venkata Ramana, who reconnects with his mother after 25 years and gets involved in a complicated political situation, with his mother asking him to sign a document denying he is her son!
