Heeramandi’s First Track Out Now With Poor Soul!

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The name has it all. It is the digital debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is bringing a series for the first time. The series is set in the pre-independence era of Heeramandi, which was basically a red light area dominated by elite courtesans.

Needless to say, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the ultimate king in the case of costume dramas and musicals. He is known for opulent sets, grand music, and spectacular dances. The latest and first song from Heeramandi is now out. It is called Sakal Ban.

The lyrics are written by the great poet Amir Khusro, so it has to be beyond our capability to comment. The music too is traditional however, Raja Hasan has sung the song.

The sets and costumes are opulent but somehow it doesn’t leave the Bhansali impact. Don’t get us wrong, it is not nitpicking. Just visit songs like Deewani Mastani or Ghoomar, and you will know the super strong first impression Bhansali can leave on the audience. In this case, however, it is not so.

But, it is too early to comment. There must be many more songs and many more things to tempt us for Heeramandi. Let’s see what updates drop from the show.
