After the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy, a lot of people have got a lot of things to say about it. But police cases have been filed and now MPs are talking about it in the Parliament and the episodes have been removed from YouTube.
Netizens suspect some foul play in this. Apart from the outrage, there might be a possibility of OTT lobbying behind this incident. The host of the show Samay Raina had previously talked about how some platforms tried to buy the show but he denied because he wanted the freedom to regulate the style of his ‘unchecked’ comedy.
India’s Got Latent got highly popular in a very short amount of time and there is no other comedy show in India right now that could come near it. There are comedians doing comedy for decades with heavily sponsored shows and their views go nowhere near Latent’s. People are speculating that it did not go very well with the OTT giants who could neither buy nor compete with the show.
While a large chunk of the netizens is still against the show and the people involved with it, there are still some who think that even the outrage is planned by the lobby and the cancellation of such a massive show is all the platforms ever wanted.
