OTT Premium Turns Painful? Worse Than MX Player?

JioHotstar is facing growing backlash from users over streaming quality, intrusive ads, and a disappointing user interface. What was once considered a premium OTT platform is now being compared to free services like MX Player, with many users questioning the value of their paid subscriptions.

One viral post on social media showcased a photo taken during a Sarzameen screening, revealing that ads were appearing every 10 minutes throughout the film. The user expressed frustration that no such ads were present last month, making the sudden shift all the more frustrating.

Other users quickly echoed the complaint, calling the ad interruptions unbearable. Some even said they’d rather turn off their devices than sit through ads on a platform they already paid for. The comment section was filled with sarcastic comparisons to MX Player and suggestions to uninstall the app altogether.

The frustration doesn’t end with advertisements. Many users have also criticized the app’s clunky and outdated interface. With premium pricing, expectations for smoother navigation and high-quality viewing experiences are high, but JioHotstar seems to be falling short on both fronts.

JioHotstar currently limits ad-free streaming only to premium subscribers, but even those paying customers are now reporting issues. As negative feedback pours in across platforms, it’s unclear whether the company will revise its strategy to retain its subscriber base.
