Vijay Deverakonda’s film Kingdom failed to make an impact both in theatres and on OTT, leaving fans upset. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the movie carried good pre-release buzz, but its box office numbers fell far below expectations. The producer suffered heavy losses in terms of business and credibility.
Many cinema lovers who skipped the theatrical release hoped the Netflix version would provide a better experience. However, even on streaming, the film disappointed viewers, and the much-anticipated song was missing.
The track Hridayam Lopala, featuring Vijay and Bhagyashri Borse, was promoted heavily before release. Fans were eager to watch it, but it was absent not only in theatres but also in the OTT version. This left Bhagyashri’s fans especially disheartened.
OTT platforms often add special content or extended cuts to attract audiences. Movies like Pushpa and Animal offered such additions, which boosted their streaming value. Netflix, however, released Kingdom in its unchanged theatrical cut.
From Netflix’s perspective, omitting Hridayam Lopala may not affect overall views. But the makers’ claim that it broke narrative flow or upheld artistic vision seems unconvincing.
The truth is, Kingdom underperformed in story, characters, and engagement. The song could have been one of the few highlights to grab attention. By excluding it, the makers lost an easy chance to revive interest. Instead, their rigid decision reduced the film’s appeal and viewer satisfaction.
Adding to this, many felt that an intense actor like Vijay Deverakonda was wasted in a project lacking vision, soul, and purpose.
