Priyanka’s Made in Korea: Worth or OTT Disappointment?

Netflix’s latest original film Made in Korea, starring Priyanka Mohan and directed by Ra Karthik, has started streaming on the platform today. The film is available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, expanding its reach among audiences across India.

A few months ago, Netflix announced six original projects in Tamil and Telugu as part of its plan to strengthen its presence in the South Indian market. The first project from this slate was the serial killer thriller Stephen, which premiered on December 5.

Following the release of Stephen, the second original film Made in Korea has now arrived on the platform. Since it is a Netflix original and Priyanka Mohan’s first woman centric film, the project generated decent pre release attention among viewers.

However, early audience reactions suggest mixed responses to the film. Several viewers have appreciated Priyanka Mohan’s performance, but many feel the screenplay moves slowly in several portions. This pacing issue has been cited as a major drawback.

Some viewers also mention that although the film runs for 1 hour and 50 minutes, certain segments feel uneven. According to audience feedback, the opening fifteen minutes and the final stretch could have been executed more effectively.

At the same time, a section of viewers believes the film still works as a simple entertainer with a few engaging scenes. Despite its flaws, many say Made in Korea remains a watchable film for those looking for a light OTT experience.

The reception has also sparked discussions about Netflix’s South Indian originals. Since Stephen received negative reactions and Made in Korea is now getting average reviews, some viewers feel the platform should focus on stronger scripts and production choices.

With mixed audience feedback emerging online, it will be interesting to see how Made in Korea performs on Netflix in the coming days. Its long term viewership numbers will determine whether the film manages to attract a wider audience.
