Modha Rathri streams on Netflix
Kollywood film Modha Rathri, starring Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead roles and directed by debutant Raja Karuppasamy, was released in theatres on 21st August and received super positive responses from audiences and critics.
Even though Modha Rathri started its theatrical run with a below-average opening and fewer screens because the film was made with emerging actors, after super positive word of mouth, the number of screens for Modha Rathri was increased, and it completed its theatrical run with hit status.
Following the successful theatrical run, Modha Rathri started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform with a four-week OTT window on 18th September in five languages, such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
Since Modha Rathri was a successful venture in theatres, many people believed that it would reach a huge audience after its OTT release and that the OTT audience would celebrate it.
However, shockingly, Modha Rathri is receiving mixed responses from OTT audiences. While some viewers claim that Modha Rathri is one of the finest commercial entertainers released in Kollywood in recent times and suggest that director Raja Karuppasamy seems like a promising young director, others are sharing negative responses.
They note that Modha Rathri felt like a mediocre attempt and that most of the emotional sequences in the film felt artificial. Also, they feel that Modha Rathri is overrated and claim that it is just an average commercial entertainer with some good humour sequences.
Ultimately, with these mixed reviews from OTT audiences, it remains to be seen how Modha Rathri will perform on the platform and whether it acquires a decent number of viewers in the following days.
