Kamiya Jani Netflix Show Draws Criticism
Kamiya Jani has been a popular face on social media for her way of interacting with celebrities. Notably, she will soon appear in a show titled Sunday Brunch With Kamiya Jani, which is scheduled to be released on Netflix, with new episodes arriving every Sunday at 12 p.m.
Netflix India announced the show with a video of Ekta Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor interacting with Kamiya, which means that the brother-sister duo will be the first guests on the show.
Amid the latest announcement, Netflix India is facing heavy criticism for its choice of content. A majority questioned the platform for bringing shows focusing on social media personalities instead of something original that appears unique and different.
People wrote that all those who have subscribed to Netflix every month are not expecting random content that is not interesting to watch, and they want the platform to go back to its roots.
After Netflix India revealed a glimpse on social media, a particular section even described it as the Indian version of an American show, adding that people don’t care to see how a celebrity lives in his or her house. Some requested that Netflix avoid becoming like YouTube and bring entertaining content with popular faces from films and television.
On the other hand, a few others stated that Netflix is possibly running out of ideas to bring anything new and hence they have opted to become like YouTube, seemingly aiming to attract people who are not interested in watching videos with multiple ads.
While the criticism continues, it remains to be seen if the upcoming show will bring some viewership for the platform or if people’s reactions will force Netflix to think of something unique.
