The Malayalam movie Officer on Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban and Priyamani in the lead roles and directed by Jithu Ashraf, was released in theatres on February 20 and received highly positive responses from audiences.
Now, Officer on Duty is all set for its OTT release on Netflix on March 20 in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
Many viewers who watched the movie in theatres praised it as one of the best crime thrillers in recent times. They also highlighted the villain gang as one of the most terrifying in Malayalam cinema history.
Malayalam thrillers often gain nationwide recognition after their OTT release; notable examples include Kishkindha Kaandam and Sookshmadharshini.
Given the strong theatre reception, OTT viewers are eagerly awaiting Officer on Duty’s release. A sure-shot blockbuster seems to be on the cards for Netflix, but it remains to be seen if the film can impress digital audiences and achieve widespread acclaim when it premieres on March 20.
