Sankranthiki Vasthunnam OTT: Lost Chance?

Sankranthiki Vasthunam is all set to hit the screens on January 14, 2025, as a Pongal special, starring Venkatesh.

The film has turned out to be a huge hit and has grossed over 75 crores worldwide in just the first two days, according to the trade.

If the momentum continues, it could soon become Venkatesh’s first film to cross the 100 crores share mark.

Producer Dil Raju initially chose to delay the sale of the film’s OTT rights, betting on its theatrical success. This strategic decision paid off as the film is a theatrical blockbuster.

Now, we have learned that ZEE5 has acquired the digital rights for a substantial price, marking a lucrative deal for Dil Raju and ensuring the film’s profitability even before it reached its OTT platform.

However, while ZEE5 has secured the rights, it doesn’t have the mass appeal or reach of bigger platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, or Disney+ Hotstar.

While Dil Raju may have struck a fantastic deal with ZEE5, there’s a chance the film might not get the same visibility it would have enjoyed on larger streaming platforms.

The film is expected to stream on Zee 5 from March 7th or 14th.
