Viewers who missed the theatrical release are now watching Sirai on OTT and sharing reactions online. Many have praised it as one of the best Kollywood films of the past year. At the same time, a section of viewers has criticised it strongly.

Some viewers have labelled Sirai as a propaganda film. They argue that the story repeatedly shows Hindu girls falling in love with Muslim men. These viewers question why filmmakers do not reverse the gender roles in similar narratives.

Criticism has also focused on a specific scene before the climax. The hero is shown performing Namaz, while the heroine prays to a Hindu god. A police officer then tells the heroine that he trusts the judge in court more than her god.

According to these viewers, no similar statement is directed at the hero after his prayer. They claim this scene clearly reflects an anti Hindu message. Based on this, they argue that Sirai promotes a biased narrative.

Others on social media have defended the film strongly. They say Sirai would convey the same message even if the religious identities were reversed. They also urge viewers to stop over analysing cinema and appreciate it as storytelling.

Following its OTT release, Sirai has sparked a major debate online. Viewers continue to share strong opinions, both positive and negative. The film remains a widely discussed topic across social media platforms.
