SonyLiv has once again let sports fans down. After issues during the Asia Cup, the platform is now frustrating football fans by failing to deliver smooth live streaming of the UEFA Champions League matches this week.
Users complained of the same problems they faced last week. Social media is filled with posts from angry fans describing errors, glitches, and low-quality streams. For many, the excitement of the Champions League was ruined by the poor service.
The Paris Saint-Germain vs FC Barcelona clash was the highlight of the week. Fans were furious with SonyLiv’s presentation of the game. Viewers described the video as blurry, pixelated, and nowhere close to the promised 1080p streaming quality.
One fan wrote, “biggest matchup that everyone is watching and you’re managing to stream at only 480p with overlapping font and continuous buffering.” Others said illegal streaming sites offered better quality than SonyLiv, even though users paid Rs 1499.
Another frustrated viewer called the broadcast “pathetic” and vowed not to renew their subscription. Fans slammed the platform for providing buggy, unreliable coverage and compared it unfavourably with free illegal streams.
The backlash highlights how streaming issues have become a pattern. First, it was the Asia Cup, and now the UEFA Champions League. Unless SonyLiv fixes its streaming quality soon, sports fans are unlikely to trust the platform with future events.
