During their month-long film festival, they deliver some gems, with “The Daughter” being one of the most beloved. Starring Ira Dubey and Naseeruddin Shah, it would be a sin not to mention their performances; they are truly mesmerizing.
It’s better not to reveal the plot of these films; you should simply feel them, let them sink in.
In a curfew-bound town, Indu (Dubey) brings her suffering father, Shah, to a makeshift hospital. Though unspoken, his desire for euthanasia is clear. “The Daughter” tenderly narrates Indu’s journey in this setting, unraveling a heartfelt story of ancestry and destiny.
This 16-minute short film will not only immerse you in your emotions but also make you question things. It prompts you to question individuality, relationships, and even yourself. The movie goes beyond the senses; it takes them to a mystic realm, making it more than just a film.
Though you might have one complaint, it won’t be related to the filmmaking, acting, or the plot. The film feels too short for its own good as you’ll crave for more of Siddiqui and Dubey.
