Emraan Hashmi seems to have made a strong impact in the OTT space with his latest release, Taskaree. The series is fast emerging as one of Netflix’s early success stories of 2025. It has gained attention for its rapid viewership growth.
While Netflix‘s first show of the year, Black Warrant, ended its run at 9.8 million views, Taskaree has already reached 9.3 million views in just 12 days. This places the crime thriller firmly in hit territory. The numbers reflect strong audience interest.
The series made a powerful global debut at Rank 1 in its first week. It recorded 5.4 million views and 29.4 million viewing hours. In the second week, it added another 3.9 million views and 21.2 million hours.
Taskaree also held a respectable Rank 3 position globally. In total, it has crossed 50.6 million viewing hours within two weeks. These figures highlight its wide reach and strong binge appeal.
Earlier, the show became the first Indian series to top Netflix’s global non-English TV charts. This achievement further strengthened its commercial standing. It marked a significant milestone for Indian content on the platform.
Interestingly, the show’s commercial success contrasts with its critical reception, which has largely been below average. Despite mixed reviews, audiences continue to stream it in large numbers. Popularity has clearly outweighed critical opinion.
This trend highlights Emraan Hashmi’s star power in the digital space. His screen presence continues to attract viewers. In the case of Taskaree, audience verdict has worked strongly in his favour.
