The Malayalam movie Identity, starring Tovino Thomas and Trisha in the lead roles, and directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, was released in theatres on January 2nd and has received mixed responses from audiences.
After an average theatrical run, Identity is set to stream on the Zee 5 OTT platform on January 31st in four languages: Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.
According to box office analysts, Identity was made with a budget of around 12 crores, but it grossed only 18.5 crores at the box office, completing its theatrical run as an average grosser.
The film’s Telugu version was released just yesterday and within 7 days the film will be coming on OTT which is sad.
Despite having two big stars like Tovino Thomas and Trisha, the flat screenplay is the major reason for the mixed responses, according to critics who reviewed the movie.
However, many movies with average theatrical responses have been celebrated by OTT audiences, and since Identity is an action thriller, a genre with a huge fan following on OTT platforms, let’s see whether the movie acquires hit status on OTT when it releases on January 31st.
