Vijay Sethupathi‘s Baththa directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and produced by Atlee, which was released in theatres on 1st October, received super positive responses from audiences and critics.
Despite the positive word of mouth, due to poor promotions and buzz, Baththa did not perform well at the box office and completed its theatrical run with an average status.
Following the underwhelming theatrical run, Baththa started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform today in five languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. People who missed watching it in theatres are now watching it on OTT and sharing their responses on social media.
Baththa is receiving positive responses from OTT audiences as well. Many viewers, after watching the film, are suggesting that Baththa is one of the finest films released in Kollywood in recent times and that child actor Master Sai Prithviraj deserves a national award for his acting performance as Sabari in the film.
Furthermore, they feel director Balaji Tharaneetharan has delivered a gem of a film and claim that Baththa is Sai Abhyankkar’s finest album of his career. Also, many people regret skipping Baththa in theatres and feel this film should have been celebrated on the big screen.
With early reviews from OTT audiences, it is evident that Baththa is going to emerge as a successful venture on OTT. It remains to be seen how the film performs on the platform and whether it will emerge as the most-viewed Tamil film on Netflix in the following days.
