Here’s the hard truth many in the industry are unwilling to admit — the music of Housefull 5 has failed to create any real impact. Despite evident paid promotions trying to artificially inflate the hype, songs like Laal Pari have received, at best, a lukewarm response. Decent? Yes. Superhit? Far from it.
With a mammoth budget of 375 crores, recovery seems like a far-fetched dream. For the producers to just break even theatrically in India — after accounting for OTT, satellite, and music rights — the film needs to net over 400 crores.
That figure is looking increasingly unlikely given the current level of buzz. Industry insiders are skeptical, and with good reason.
Worse, producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s credibility has taken a major hit post-pandemic. A string of high-profile flops like Bachchhan Paandey and Heropanti 2, including his recent disaster Sikandar with Salman Khan, reportedly caused significant financial losses.
Whispers in the industry suggest Sajid has become overly cautious — or possibly has no cash — especially when it comes to marketing. That would explain the near-zero promotional activity for Housefull 5, despite its star-studded cast.
At this point, all hopes are pinned on the trailer, which drops tomorrow, May 27. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared it with a UA 16+ certificate.
The trailer runs for a hefty 3 minutes and 56 seconds. A grand launch event is being planned, supposedly bringing together all 19 lead actors, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, and others.
The trailer is expected to showcase the film’s humor quotient — supposedly its strongest asset.
However, with only 10 days to go before release, the unusually late promotional push is raising serious questions. Some close to the production insist Sajid “knows what he’s doing.”
But the reality on the ground tells a different story. Without buzz, no comedy — no matter how big the cast — can guarantee success in today’s market.
The stakes are sky-high. And the trailer dropping tomorrow might be the final chance for this 375-crore gamble to turn things around. If it doesn’t land, Housefull 5 could be staring at one of Bollywood’s most expensive failures.
