Disaster Director Out to Destroy Big Superstar?

Aamir Khan’s comments at the trailer launch of his son Junaid Khan’s film, Loveyapa, have been quite controversy-and-excitement generators recently.

While his emotional tribute to late Sridevi and pride in his son’s achievements touched hearts, his gibe on the direction of Advait Chandan definitely did raise some eyebrows.

Humorous that he was, Aamir quipped that Chandan, who directed the box office disaster Laal Singh Chaddha, seemed to out to “destroy” him.

This playful jab, though delivered with a laugh, hints at underlying tensions and the high stakes in Bollywood.

Aamir is refreshingly candid, but one cannot help notice the pressures and expectations that seem to surround every film.

Even his own career’s ups and downs, rare flops notwithstanding, add to the vulnerability that surrounds his public persona.

When he takes a dig at Chandan, which he does jokingly, in a way that deflects from the responsibility that Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure placed on him and his team.

It raises a question of accountability and the collective nature of the filmmaking industry.

The event also exposed Aamir’s complicated relationship with his work and family. His confession as an “absent father” because of his career is a poignant reminder of the personal sacrifices made by those in the limelight.

When Loveyapa is released, the success of the film will not only prove Junaid’s talent but will also reflect the legacy and influence of Aamir in Bollywood.

Industry and fans would keenly await the day Loveyapa proves it is different from other past failures of the Khan family and marks a new chapter in the history of this family.
