Aamir Breaks Silence on Epstein Files: “It Is Mental …”

Actor Aamir Khan recently spoke about the impact of social media and corruption during the Lokmat Maharashtrian Of The Year 2026 event held at the Gateway of India. The discussion took place during an on stage interaction with Devendra Fadnavis.

During the conversation, Aamir Khan admitted that social media has significantly changed his daily habits. He recalled that he once used to read two or three books every week. Most of that reading happened during travel or short breaks.

However, he said that his routine has now shifted towards watching YouTube videos and scrolling through Instagram reels. According to him, the algorithm driven nature of these platforms keeps suggesting engaging content. This often leads users to spend long hours online without noticing the time.

Aamir Khan also suggested that governments should consider restricting social media access for children below the age of 16. While acknowledging the benefits of digital platforms, he said excessive exposure could negatively affect young minds.

Responding to the suggestion, Devendra Fadnavis said some Indian states are already exploring ways to reduce the negative impact of social media on minors. However, he clarified that no final policy decision has been made yet.

The discussion also shifted towards the broader issue of corruption in society. Aamir Khan referred to the ancient political text Arthashastra and said corruption has existed for centuries and is not limited to modern times.

He also mentioned the global debate surrounding the Epstein Files. Calling it “another level of corruption”, Aamir Khan described the situation as an example of what he termed “total mental corruption”. He suggested that corruption today goes beyond financial wrongdoing and reflects deeper ethical failures.
