Will OTT Disaster Actor Deliver Big Hit in Theaters?

Agastya Nanda has spoken openly about the challenges in his career, describing his upcoming film Ikkis as a crucial opportunity. He has referred to it as his last chance to prove his acting ability in mainstream cinema.

The grandson of Amitabh Bachchan made his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies in 2023. The film received heavy criticism from audiences and critics, leading to widespread discussion around the performances of its debut cast.

Unlike many newcomers, Agastya Nanda has admitted that his first performance did not meet expectations. He acknowledged that the response to The Archies was disappointing and accepted responsibility for his shortcomings as an actor.

During a recent press interaction, Agastya addressed his privilege as a star kid with honesty. He stated that while a film family background can offer access, it cannot ensure acceptance or long term success.

According to him, Ikkis represents a turning point where he hopes to justify the opportunities he has received. The film is important for rebuilding trust with audiences after a difficult debut.

The backlash around The Archies, which also featured Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor, was intense on social media. Agastya admitted that the trolling affected him deeply but also pushed him to work harder.

Rather than distancing himself from criticism, he chose to treat it as motivation. He said the negative feedback encouraged him to focus on improving his craft and understanding acting more seriously.

Agastya also spoke about his personal connection with acting. He explained that his desire to perform goes beyond box office success and is rooted in genuine interest.

Even if mainstream films do not work in the future, he believes acting will remain part of his life in some form. For him, the process matters more than commercial outcomes.

Ikkis is directed by Sriram Raghavan and is a war biopic based on Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

For Agastya Nanda, Ikkis is not about hype or expectations. It is about rebuilding credibility and finding stability after a challenging start in the industry.
