On 27 November 2025, the Delhi High Court issued an urgent order directing the removal of all deepfake videos showing Ajay Devgn in obscene content. These AI generated clips have been widely circulated on social media.
The court noted that the videos used Ajay’s face and voice on someone else’s body. It ruled that no person can use Ajay Devgn’s name, face, or voice without his permission, especially in adult or misleading content.
Platforms like YouTube and several websites were ordered to delete the videos immediately. The court also said that people cannot sell items like caps, T shirts, or stickers featuring Ajay’s photo or name for wrong or misleading purposes.
However, a twist emerged during the hearing. The judge asked Ajay’s lawyers whether they had approached YouTube or other platforms before coming to court. The judge asked, “Did you first complain to YouTube and the websites?”
The rise of celebrity deepfakes has become a major issue in India. Fake videos of actresses and actors are being shared frequently. Celebrities like Ashiwarya Rai, Ajay Devgn, Rashmika Mandanna, and others have already sought legal help to curb such content.
With easy access to AI tools and video sharing platforms, anyone can create deepfakes and distribute them without being caught. This misuse of technology is now a serious threat for celebrities and even regular individuals.
The case highlights the need for stronger laws to protect identity and personal information. Better safeguards are required to prevent people from using technology to defame or manipulate others, whether they are public figures or not.
