Akshay Kumar’s recent films discussed
Akshay Kumar’s career has witnessed a different turn after the pandemic. While Sooryavanshi emerged as a blockbuster, this was followed by a lineup of flops until Bhooth Bangla managed to bring him back into the spotlight. But the failure of Haiwaan has now raised concern if the old times will be back again.
Talking about Akshay’s pre-pandemic records, he used to deliver at least four hits in a year. Most of them managed to impress the masses, even though they were related to some social issues. However, the same themes are not working anymore for him.
Among the long list of flops, netizens have pointed out that Akshay should have rejected a few of them, and that could have helped him a little bit to stay relevant among the audience.
Fans stated that Akshay should have rejected films like Bell Bottom and Laxmmi. Some others said that the main film that he should have avoided was Bachchan Pandey. A majority pointed out that Akshay’s bad luck started with that film and remains unchanged until today.
Although Atrangi Re and Cutputlli were OTT releases, netizens believe that Akshay should not have done those films. They shared the same opinion for Prithviraj, Ram Setu, Mission Ranigang, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, Khel Khel Mein, Housefull 5, Haiwaan, and the upcoming movie with Anees Bazmee, tentatively titled Mauja Hi Mauja.
While there are multiple reasons why Akshay should have rejected these films, the actor’s fans reacted on social media by saying that he is possibly failing to understand the requirements of today’s audience. A majority stated that Akshay should now maintain a distance from remakes, biopics, and movies based on social issues.
A particular section also alleged that Akshay is possibly signing films without reading scripts or understanding the potential of those subjects at the box office. Some advised him to make the gaps bigger between his films so that audiences can crave to see him back in the theatres.
Although Akshay has signed a few projects so far, nothing much can be said about their fate since the decision entirely rests on whether the audiences will show interest in watching those movies on the big screen. Akshay’s fans are praying for his big comeback. Let’s wait and see when Akshay will return to the phase of delivering frequent hits.
