Akshay's KBC answer sparks debate
Akshay Kumar is facing criticism on social media after an unexpected moment on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18. The actor appeared alongside Saif Ali Khan to promote their upcoming film Haiwaan. However, a history-based question became the biggest talking point of the episode.
The question asked which Indian ruler won the First Battle of Tarain. Akshay appeared unsure and joked that he had heard of the Korean film Train to Busan but not Tarain. Saif then suggested the answer could be either Prithviraj Chauhan or Chandragupta Maurya. The duo finally selected Prithviraj Chauhan.
The moment quickly went viral because Akshay had portrayed Prithviraj Chauhan in the 2022 film Samrat Prithviraj. The film did not perform well at the box office, but during its promotions, Akshay had spoken about the importance of highlighting the king’s contribution in Indian history.
At that time, Akshay had also urged the Education Ministry to give greater importance to Indian rulers like Prithviraj Chauhan in history textbooks. His comments had received significant attention during the film’s promotional campaign.
Following the KBC episode, many social media users questioned how Akshay could appear uncertain about a historical figure he had portrayed on screen. Several posts compared his earlier statements with his response on the quiz show, leading to widespread online discussion.
The incident has sparked fresh debate among fans and netizens. While some viewed it as a harmless on-screen moment, others felt it was surprising considering Akshay’s previous portrayal of Prithviraj Chauhan and his public comments about Indian history.
