Awarapan 2 leads booking race
The advance booking for Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2 has started on all platforms. The chances of the latter emerging as a hit look bigger for now. But the tables might turn.
Trade experts have now shared their reaction on what might happen. Taran Adarsh stated that Awarapan 2 has a better chance, considering the ticket sales. He even admitted that the first part was one of the best efforts by Emraan Hashmi, adding that it was a brilliant film, despite the fact that it did not work.
Roopbani Cinema owner, Vishek Chauhan, said that Awarapan 2 has an edge. He said that Batwara 1947 is not selling more tickets because the actors playing the characters have already established an image for themselves. He also stated that Sunny Deol is completely different this time, playing the role of a Muslim who migrates to Pakistan, and this might be hard for audiences to accept.
Atul Mohan had a different viewpoint, saying that the advance of both films is not on the level that is expected from an Independence Day release. He said that both will work if the word of mouth is positive. He still accepted the fact that Awarapan 2 is ahead of Batwara 1947.
While the lifetime collections of Awarapan were Rs. 7.76 crores, trade experts said that the opening day numbers of the sequel will be more than the lifetime numbers. Some stated that it could be between Rs. 10-12 crores, which is more than Batwara 1947, which is predicted to start at Rs. 7-8 crores.
Taran Adarsh stated that online bookings should not be the only factor to determine the fate of both the films. He said that spot bookings are supposed to make a difference in some manner.
The latest updates have also claimed that Awarapan 2’s Day 1 numbers might be between Rs. 15-20 crores. Although full bookings have not started due to disputes with exhibitors related to Batwara 1947, Emraan’s film has sold almost 35,000 tickets so far in the national chains, which include PVR Inox and Cinepolis.
The current predictions have hinted that the weekend numbers might hit Rs. 80 crores, which is a good figure, considering the budget of the film. However, Sunny Deol’s fans are confident that Batwara 1947 will also witness a rise, at least from the second day.
Trade experts and critics are eagerly waiting to see the results of this upcoming clash. Only time will tell who is going to survive for a long time at the theatres.
