Batwara 1947 is arriving on the big screen next week on August 14, 2026. It will clash with Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 on the same day.
Trade experts believe that A certificates have always helped movies to get a good start at the box office. They also stated that since Batwara has also received an Adults Only certificate from CBFC, it is expected to help the film record a big number on the first day.
The question that remains right now is whether Batwara will take its position among Bollywood’s top 10 A-rated openers in India. Notably, Dhurandhar 2 is leading this list with a collection of Rs. 145 crores.
Critics noted that while crossing the number of Dhurandhar 2 is impossible, the movie can break the records made by Cocktail 2, Baaghi 4, Grand Masti, Veere Di Wedding, and Raaz 3. The reason is that the opening day net collections of all these movies are between Rs. 10-14 crores, and considering the buzz, Batwara 1947 might surpass them if the advance booking numbers are good.
However, trade experts noted that considering the trailer response, an opening of Rs. 5-6 crores is possible for now. Online users also stated that Sunny Deol has already landed himself in controversy by claiming in an interview that Pakistan is the aunt of India.
As mentioned, the movie will clash with Awarapan 2. While the trailer has arrived a little late for Emraan Hashmi’s film, social media users said that the hype is much better than Batwara 1947. They even praised the trailer, saying that although it is short, the glimpse is impactful.
Batwara 1947 still has to depend on word-of-mouth. If it is excellent, it might score big on the first day. But only time will tell if a negative response will benefit Awarapan 2, helping it to emerge as a big hit at the box office.
