Popular rapper Badshah has landed in controversy after the Haryana Police filed an FIR against him over his music video Tateeree. Authorities have also issued a Look Out Certificate (LOC) in connection with the case.
The complaint alleges that the song contains objectionable and vulgar visuals. Critics claim the video shows an indecent portrayal of women, especially scenes where background dancers appear in school uniforms.
After the FIR surfaced, social media users began discussing similar content in other music videos. Many users pointed to a previous incident involving Punjabi singer and rapper Guru Randhawa.
In August 2025, Guru Randhawa released the track Azul, featuring Gurjit Gill and Lavish Dhiman. The song recently faced online criticism for scenes that some viewers believe also depict schoolgirls in a problematic manner.
According to several posts circulating online, the Azul music video shows a photographer entering what appears to be a school setting. He then takes photos of girls before the sequence turns into a song and dance scene.
Some users argued that the visuals resemble a party like environment involving characters dressed as schoolgirls. Critics on social media described the scenes as disturbing and inappropriate.
The controversy around Badshah’s Tateeree intensified as many viewers questioned why only one artist was facing legal action. They argued that similar portrayals in other music videos have gone largely unnoticed.
Several users strongly criticised such content and said sexualising women in school uniforms should not be normalised in the music industry. Some even called for stricter action against artists who promote such visuals.
Others also pointed out that certain scenes in the video include references to alcohol brands while dancers appear in school uniforms. According to them, this combination raises further concerns about the messaging.
Given the popularity of artists like Badshah and Guru Randhawa among younger audiences, some users said creators must act responsibly. They believe problematic portrayals should be questioned before they become accepted trends.
At present, the backlash against Guru Randhawa remains limited to social media discussions. No official statement or legal action has yet been announced by authorities regarding the matter.
However, many users continue to argue that if action is taken against Badshah, similar scrutiny should apply to others as well.
