Kalki 2: Deepika, Salman’s Luxury Killing Films?

Film budgets in recent years have shocked audiences, with numbers climbing higher than ever. While grand sets and VFX often get blamed, insiders have revealed another reason extravagant demands by certain stars.

In interviews and podcasts, directors and crew have spoken about actors arriving with multiple vanity vans sometimes as many as six. One for chilling, one for meetings, one for workouts, one for meals, one for hair and makeup, and one for staff. Producers are then expected to cover these costs.

Deepika Padukone’s reported clash with the makers of Kalki 2 resurfaced in this context. Fans pointed out claims that she allegedly asked producers to pay for her 25 staff members as well.

Director A. R. Murugadoss also recalled his experience with Salman Khan during Sikandar. He said the star often arrived so late that younger actors fell asleep waiting, and even demanded that morning scenes be shot at night.

Few stars openly condemn such behaviour. Those who do insist that personal staff should be an actor’s responsibility, not the producer’s.

With these indirect expenses piling up, producers are forced to compromise on essential filmmaking needs just to meet actor demands. The next time you hear about inflated budgets, remember it’s not always about VFX or sets, but sometimes about the very stars we admire.
