Sequel to Disaster: Akshay Super Excited, Director Not?

In a recent interview, filmmaker Nikkhil Advani talked about his 2009 movie, Chandni Chowk To China. He shared that Akshay Kumar is a huge fan of the film. Whenever it plays on TV, Akshay calls him immediately. The actor always pushes him to start working on a sequel.

Even though Akshay is eager, Nikkhil admits he is not very confident about a sequel. He explained that he is still hurt by the box office failure of the first film because it was such an expensive project. Even though the movie now has a cult following, he does not feel like making a second part.

Nikkhil is very honest about his goals. He said he does not just want his movies to have a cult status or be called great years later. He also wants them to be successful at the box office. To him, big collections are the real sign of success in the movie industry.

Some people feel it is too late for a sequel. They think Akshay has aged and Deepika Padukone may not want to play that kind of role again. They even say that audience’s taste has evolved and a regular martial arts comedy won’t be enough to attract big footfalls.

However, fans are not giving up. The first movie ended with a hint about a sequel in Africa, and people have been asking for it for years. After seeing this interview, fans started tagging Advani online. They are asking him to listen to Akshay and finally give them the sequel they want.
