Dhurandhar 2 Reflecting Voter Mood in Tamil Nadu Elections?

The release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has sparked a fresh political discussion in Tamil Nadu ahead of the upcoming elections. The film’s strong reception has led to debates about whether it reflects the current voter mood in the state.

Ranveer Singh’s much-anticipated sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, released in theatres on March 19. The film has received highly positive responses from both audiences and critics across regions.

Following the success of Dhurandhar, the sequel opened strongly at the box office. Positive word-of-mouth has boosted its performance, and the film is now running successfully in several markets.

Interestingly, despite being a Bollywood film, Dhurandhar 2 is performing well in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil version, released recently, has also received a solid response and is doing impressive business.

At the same time, a section of viewers has labelled Dhurandhar 2 as a propaganda film. They claim that Aditya Dhar made the film to improve the BJP’s image among the public.

Reacting to these allegations, Aditya Dhar dismissed them firmly. He stated that Dhurandhar was made with patriotic intent and added that audiences are smart enough not to fall for such claims.

Meanwhile, some BJP supporters on social media argue that the film’s success in Tamil Nadu reflects changing political preferences. They point to the failure of Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, released in January, as a contrast.

According to them, Parasakthi was also labelled as a DMK propaganda film. They claim that despite efforts by DMK supporters to promote it, the film did not perform well at the box office.

However, many others disagree with this comparison. They say that films and politics should not be mixed and that box office results cannot define public opinion.

DMK supporters have also strongly rejected these claims. They argue that the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has no connection with political support in Tamil Nadu.

They further stated that the real answer will be seen on the election result day, May 4th. According to them, the public will prove that such assumptions are baseless.

Overall, the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has triggered a heated debate on social media. The discussion now revolves around whether cinema can truly influence political sentiment in Tamil Nadu.
