Why Did CBFC Go Easy on Aamir While Others Suffer?

Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos is directed by and stars Vir Das, with production backed by Aamir Khan’s banner. The film has received an A rating from the CBFC and cleared certification with a runtime of 121.42 minutes without any major hurdles.

The certification outcome has surprised many fans and followers. The CBFC, often referred to as the censor board, is known for strict cuts, especially in adult content. In this case, the approach appeared noticeably relaxed.

Only minimal changes were suggested for Happy Patel. These included removing the word “brown” when used for a person and increasing the size of the smoking and alcohol disclaimer. The makers are expected to welcome this smoother clearance.

Earlier, Aamir Khan-backed indie films like Delhi Belly had faced CBFC scrutiny. This makes the current decision feel unexpected for many viewers. The contrast has sparked fresh discussion around certification standards.

The difference becomes sharper when compared to Dhurandhar, a recent A-rated release that reportedly faced multiple cuts. In contrast, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos moves ahead with limited changes and is scheduled for release on 16 January.
