However, Rakesh Roshan recently announced that he would be launching Hrithik Roshan as a director in the upcoming Krrish 4.
After years, Yash Chopra and Rakesh Roshan are coming together as producers to make Krrish 4 a reality.
While the news is incredibly exciting, it also comes with significant risk.
It’s undeniable that, through the course of Krrish to Krrish 3, while all the films were blockbusters, they gradually lost their original charm.
The impact Krrish had on audiences was immense. India finally had its own superhero, and watching Hrithik play Krrish opposite Naseeruddin Shah as the villain further elevated the storyline.
However, by the time Krrish 3 was released, it felt more like a collection of borrowed concepts, with the only major takeaway being Vivek Oberoi comparing his performance to Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight, a claim that sparked controversy.
Despite that, all three films became blockbusters.
However, with Krrish 4, a lot is at stake.
As a debutant director, especially for a high-budget superhero film, Hrithik Roshan is taking a massive risk.
If the makers are investing heavily, it would be wise to have a strong writing team on board to ensure the film doesn’t meet the fate of countless actor-turned-director projects that lacked a solid storyline.
Krrish has been a childhood hero for many, and Hrithik now carries the responsibility of living up to those expectations, both as an actor and as a director.
