One of the biggest challenges with the remake is carrying the feel of the original when its helmed by the same director. Usually, the remake loses the nativity touch as the writing seems like an exact translation of the original. It is in this area Kabir Reddy stands out, and that’s why it feels strikingly organic for a remake. The dialogues and ‘freshly’ added music give it a proper Hindi film vibe.
There will always be debate regarding the lead performance because those who have seen the original won’t be able to take it out of minds. The impact will be missing and also Shahid Kapoor has done similar parts before, whether they or not they have the same effects. The novelty vis a vis the Telugu film industry for Arjun Reddy is also missing for Kabir Singh in Bollywood. Simply put, the latter doesn’t stand out from the crowd.
Given the issues mentioned above, it will be hard for Kabir Singh to live up to the expectations. But, when seen in isolation it also looks like a solid outing. Check out the trailer below. Sandeep Reddy Vanga directs Kabir Singh. Kiara Advani plays the female lead. Kabir Singh will hit the screens worldwide on June 21st.
