Controversial OTT Blockbuster Promotes Divorce?

Sanya Malhotra’s Mrs, the Hindi remake of The Great Indian Kitchen has sparked a conversation around gender roles, marriage and patriarchy ever since its OTT release. As more and more people watch it, the conversation around the power dynamics in a marriage and women’s oppression are revealing some crude realities.

But social media lies divided where some call it a feminist propaganda while others simply view it as an honest depiction of many married women’s lives. The controversial queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut, has also jumped in this battle.

She called out the film without directly naming it to promote divorce. She feels that the household women are the ultimate queens and not all women are subjected to such a trauma.

She even said the only true joy in life is with the paramatma, so people should stop expecting it from their surroundings. Many netizens shunned her down for taking her privileges for granted.

Just because she never experienced a toxic environment in her surroundings does not negate the atrocities met by numerous women in the country. If a film raises awareness it should be seen as such.

Many felt that as far as divorces are concerned it is never a single person’s act. Kangana is famous for drawing attention from controversies, hence this is nothing new to them.
