Naagzilla, Rom-Coms, High-Concept Films: Huge Lineup

Kartik Aaryan is back in the spotlight as he teams up with producers Mahaveer Jain and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba for the fantasy comedy Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand, set to release on August 14, 2026. He plays a shape-shifting snake in a high-concept comedy rooted in folklore and supernatural themes.

The film is produced by Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films and marks Kartik’s second collaboration with the team. Their decision to work with him again shows the confidence they have in his commercial pull and his skill with light-hearted roles.

Reports say the makers also want Kartik for another ambitious comedy built on the fun and distinctive tone of Munna Bhai MBBS. The idea is to create a fresh, high-concept entertainer that matches his screen image and audience appeal.

Kartik’s career so far shows a mix of hits and setbacks. Films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Pati Patni Aur Woh turned into clear commercial successes. But he also carries several flops and performances that drew criticism for being repetitive.

Many critics say Kartik stays within a predictable comedic style that relies on charm and timing but lacks range. His limited attempts at varied roles have raised questions about his versatility and long-term growth. Fans want to see whether he can break out of his comfort zone.

The planned follow-up comedy with Mahaveer Jain and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba may strengthen his position in this space, yet it also risks pushing him deeper into typecast territory unless the writing and execution offer something new. His upcoming films, including a romantic project with Anurag Basu and Naagzilla, show an effort to explore different genres.

For Kartik to gain wider respect and stronger industry footing, he will need to move beyond familiar roles and deliver consistent performances across genres, not just rely on commercial backing.
