Toxic English Version Flops: Yash’s Ramayana at Risk?

Toxic has emerged as an epic disaster at the box office. While the movie bombed in its first week, the situation took a worse turn starting in the second week.

The makers tried to save themselves by releasing an English version in theatres. However, the English version hardly managed to get any screens, and the first-week collections were reported to be only Rs. 1.40 lakhs, with 450 tickets sold across India.

The numbers remained almost the same on the second and third day, including Bengaluru, which is the main market for Yash. The situation took a different turn on Monday, with collections reported to be only Rs. 15,034. It continued to drop over the next few days, with Rs. 3.125 on Tuesday.

A slight rise was witnessed on Wednesday and Thursday, with collections touching the marks of Rs. 5,699 and Rs. 4,655 respectively. With the release of more films, including Haiwaan, the English version was completely removed from theatres on September 11, 2026.

Netizens reacted by saying that the English version was unnecessary. Most of them pointed out the fact that Geetu Mohandas and Yash were making a film for the Indian audience, and no one likes to see an Indian film in the English language.

People wrote that the approach of the makers was correct, as they aimed to reach the global audience with an English version. However, the effort failed due to the bad content in the film that audiences could not understand at all.

Amid the failure of Toxic, trade experts and theatre owners are worried if it will impact the collections of Ramayana, where Yash plays Ravan. As of now, everyone has to wait until the advance booking opens for Nitesh Tiwari’s film.
