Katrina Kaif faces pregnancy trolling
It seems like personal and body-shaming remarks about Katrina Kaif are yet to end. She has been the easy target of trolls since her pregnancy. Now, some people reportedly went as far as calling her “Vicky Kaushal’s Amma”, a comment many found unnecessarily cruel and disrespectful.
This shows the disgusting way Katrina was being discussed and its high time people show some sensitivity. Actresses often face constant scrutiny, particularly when it comes to their bodies, age, relationships and pregnancies.
However, nobody can think of the extent of the damage such comments can cause. Body-shaming is often dismissed as harmless gossip, but repeated remarks about appearance can push people towards extreme diets, unsafe weight-loss methods and unregulated treatments. In some cases, the pressure to achieve an unrealistic body image can have serious physical and mental consequences.
Katrina’s supporters have always pointed out that she appears happy and should be allowed to enjoy this phase of her life without strangers turning her appearance into a subject of ridicule. She reportedly comes from a broken family background and that means the child means a great deal to her.
Criticism is part of public life, but personal attacks are not criticism. Calling a woman “old,” mocking her body or reducing her identity to her husband only reveals the lack of sensitivity behind such commentary. Faridoon’s reaction has therefore resonated with those asking people to stop treating women’s lives and bodies as easy material for gossip.
