Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh recently shared a post on Instagram confirming the arrival of their second child, and the announcement quickly drew congratulatory messages from fans and members of the film industry. Among those who reacted to the post was Hollywood star Vin Diesel, whose comment immediately caught the attention of social media users.
Vin Diesel and Deepika had previously worked together in the 2017 Hollywood action film xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which marked Deepika’s major international film debut. Their chemistry during the film’s promotions and on-screen appearances had generated plenty of chatter at the time. Some sections of social media even indulged in baseless speculations about their relationship.
However, what followed Vin Diesel’s recent comment was a reminder of just how quickly social media can turn a completely normal interaction into something ugly. Some users began leaving distasteful comments under the post, with one person even writing, “Sir, this baby is yours.” They are apparently trying to make a joke out of Deepika and Vin’s past professional association.
Frankly, this is the kind of trolling that says more about the people posting it than the celebrities they are targeting. Vin Diesel simply reacted to the happy news of a former co-star, something celebrities do all the time. Turning that into cheap insinuations about a newborn child is neither funny nor clever.
That “Sir, this baby is yours” comment may have been intended as Hollywood-level trolling, but some Instagram users really need to understand that not every celebrity interaction needs to be dragged into the gutter.
