Maddock Universe Big Shock: Akshay Kumar No Longer Part?

Maddock Films is reportedly undergoing a major restructuring after Thamma (2025) failed to meet box office expectations. The studio is now revisiting its strategy, especially for the popular horror comedy universe.

Producer Dinesh Vijan is said to be reworking several upcoming projects. Reports suggest that some horror comedy films have been scrapped to avoid oversaturation in the genre.

The studio plans to reduce the number of such releases. This move aims to keep the genre fresh and maintain audience interest over time.

Cost cutting has also become a key focus. As part of this strategy, Akshay Kumar’s character from Stree 2 may not return in future films due to high production costs.

This decision reflects a shift towards more budget conscious filmmaking. The studio is now prioritising financial sustainability over large scale casting.

At the same time, Maddock Films is exploring new directions. Romantic comedies are expected to become a major focus in their upcoming slate.

The studio is also looking at digital expansion. Reports indicate that Maddock is trying to secure a deal with Prime Video for direct to streaming releases.

This shift towards OTT platforms and controlled budgets is seen as a step to stay competitive. It reflects changing audience preferences and market conditions.

The restructuring marks a significant phase for Maddock Films. The success of this new approach will depend on how well the upcoming projects perform.
