Several films have remained unreleased in recent years, including Pooja Meri Jaan by Maddock Films. The thriller completed filming and post-production nearly three years ago. Despite this, the film has still not reached audiences.
Director Navjot Gulati recently expressed his disappointment in an interview with Variety India. He urged Maddock Films to release the film soon. Navjot shared that even his late father questioned him about the film’s delayed release.
Pooja Meri Jaan features Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi in key roles. The film was initially planned as a direct release on Jio Cinema. That plan reportedly collapsed after the merger with Disney+ Hotstar.
According to reports, the producers were unable to finalise a deal with other streaming platforms. Navjot claimed this situation could continue indefinitely. He added that Maddock Films no longer prioritises smaller films.
Navjot also alleged that co-producer Amar Kaushik has stopped responding to his calls. He criticised Maddock for not recognising the importance of supporting all projects. Navjot stated that the delay has affected his chances of getting new work.
He further said that there is no answer for fans of Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur. Many regularly question him on social media about the film’s release. The prolonged silence has only increased frustration.
Navjot concluded by saying that his patience has run out after three years. He pointed out that Maddock released ten titles during the same period. According to him, releasing Pooja Meri Jaan should not be difficult.
Online reactions have largely criticised Maddock Films for allegedly ignoring Navjot. Some users claimed they would stop watching the company’s future films. Others urged streaming platforms or major production houses to support the director.
However, a section of users also questioned Navjot’s decision to work with Maddock. They felt such risks were expected. With Navjot’s interview trending widely, the industry response remains uncertain.
