Acclaimed actress Pratibha Ranta, who rose to fame with Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, is set to star alongside Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh in Maddock’s upcoming film Maha Munjya. The project has already stirred conversations among fans online.
Maha Munjya will serve as a sequel to the 2024 horror-comedy Munjya and is expected to go on floors by the end of 2025. The film is also seen as part of Maddock Films’ growing horror comedy universe, popularly called MHCU.
The announcement has generated excitement, but it has also sparked confusion. Fans have noticed a mismatch between the previously announced release plans and the sudden move to bring Maha Munjya forward in the production lineup.
Maddock earlier revealed a detailed slate that included Shakti Shalini, Chamunda, Bhediya 2, and Stree 3 before Maha Munjya. Shakti Shalini and Thama were slated for 2025, Bhediya 2 for August 2026, Chamunda for December 2026, and Stree 3 for August 2027.
Reports suggested that Maha Munjya was originally planned for December 2027. The unexpected shift has left followers wondering why Maddock Films chose to prioritise this sequel ahead of other projects in the same universe.
Fans on social media are calling for clear communication from Maddock Films. While production reshuffles do happen due to script changes, pushing Maha Munjya ahead of four major titles has raised concerns about consistency in the MHCU.
Viewers worry that such sudden changes could disturb the planned narrative flow of the interconnected universe. Maddock Films now faces pressure to address these concerns and share an updated timeline that reassures its loyal audience base.
