Mirzapur Movie Gets CBFC Clearance
After a long wait, Mirzapur The Movie is arriving on the big screen on September 4, 2026. Fans of the popular Amazon Prime Video series have been waiting for an update on the advance booking and censorship details.
As of now, the movie has been passed with an Adults Only certificate. But as expected, CBFC made certain changes to the film. However, they did not touch the violent sequences, which means that the essence of the show will remain in the movie adaptation.
The CBFC made changes to around 35 seconds of the film. This included a few cuss words being muted, followed by the replacement of some abuses. Apart from that, a dialogue and a few more words were also edited. Furthermore, a caste reference has been entirely changed.
The intimate scenes were reduced by 50% with modifications made to the sound and visuals. This was done in two places in the film.
On the other hand, the advance booking of the film is open now in the major theatre chains. The bookings so far have been decent and are expected to witness a boost in the upcoming days, considering that the show is popular among the Indian audience.
Considering the current trends in bookings, the movie is expected to start its journey with an opening of Rs. 12-15 crores. 5,000 tickets have been sold so far in the national multiplex chains. If the content leaves an impression, the numbers might increase on the weekend, helping it to have a long run at the box office.
As of now, the official budget has not been disclosed. But if it’s made on a medium investment, the recovery won’t be an issue. The real question that remains right now is whether the audience will show the same love to the movie adaptation as they did for the TV show.
