When Kalank was announced, it was a big deal mainly because of the star cast that had the hit pair Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The presence of senior stars like Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit (replacing Sridevi) created a lot of buzz. However, the moment the actual footage came out with the teaser, it has been surrounded in negativity. Barring a couple of songs, the rest of the promos including the theatrical trailer too have been not appreciated.
Kalank is just a week away from the release, and the buzz around it is not like what the trade anticipated. Still, it doesn’t mean a complete tank, but an underperformance looks highly likely. Abhishek Varman of Two States fame directs Kalank which is produced by Karan Johar. It is going to arrive in cinemas on April 17th.
