Official: First Flop For AR Murugadoss

The writing was clearly on the wall despite the heroic opening day and a reasonable weekend. Akira has flopped at the box office and in the process became a first for director AR Murugadoss.

The film surprised everyone with a decent opening on day 1 without any promotion or chartbuster songs. But it never picked up in a way suggesting a good word of mouth. In the weekdays the collections dropped and finally on the eighth day it crashed making it impossible to be called an average at least.

Murugadoss and heroine Sonakshi Sinha seem to be not perturbed by the fate of the film as they have moved onto their new films respectively. One wonders why this film was made in the first place if there was such lack of interest.
