The shooting of Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, was disrupted in Prayagraj after miscreants allegedly attacked crew members. The shocking incident happened in broad daylight, with videos of the assault quickly going viral on social media.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association has strongly condemned the attack. It questioned why proper security was not provided for the film shoot in Uttar Pradesh. The association argued that the incident reflects poorly on the state’s ability to protect artists and technicians.
In its statement, AICWA highlighted that Prayagraj, which is known worldwide for the Kumbh Mela, now risks being linked with lawlessness instead of heritage. The group warned that such incidents may discourage filmmakers from selecting Uttar Pradesh as a preferred filming destination.
AICWA has placed three urgent demands before the government. These include filing an FIR against those responsible, ensuring strict security measures for film shoots, and restoring the confidence of the film fraternity. The body has also appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene.
Despite the assault, shooting continues under director Mudassar Aziz. The film, which is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit, also features Wamiqa Gabbi in a key role. The incident has reignited debate across the industry, with many demanding stronger safety protocols on film sets.
