2024 was a great year for Indian Cinema as several masterpieces across all languages made their way to the theatres receiving massive responses from the crowd.

Whether it was the inspirational Lubber Pandhu or Massy Pushpa 2, films from each part of the country had something new for the viewers. Amid this massive cinematic experience, the Hindi film industry might have taken a wrong turn as regional films took over the Bollywood industry.

While Bollywood had some iconic films released this year including Crew, Srikanth, Sarfira, and many other top-tier films, they were not able to attract a larger amount of crowd at the box office.

This is when films like Kalki, Pushpa, The Greatest of All Time and Devara took over and generated huge revenue from the Hindi belt. The only film from the Bollywood fraternity to be on the top 3 highest grossers was Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2.

The other two spots are cemented by Prabhas’s Kalki and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. It shows how Hindi audiences are slowly shifting their focus towards regional cinema and how South Indian films are getting more and more recognition mainstream.

With no huge Christmas release for this year rather than Baby John, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 might have theatres filled up throughout the New Year taking its Hindi overall collection to over 600 crores by the end of the year.

This again shows how Regional cinema is attracting more viewers due to its massy appeal and compelling plots. What the Hindi film industry needs now is a new and fresh concept instead of cheesy remakes and sequels.




Only time will tell if something eye-catching appeals to the audiences of Bollywood in the upcoming year which might change the landscape of the Hindi film industry.
